Nominated by Calvin Coolidge on January 5, 1929, to a seat vacated by Smith Hickenlooper. Confirmed by the Senate on January 21, 1929, and received commission on January 21, 1929. Served as chief judge, 1948-1952. Service terminated on December 31, 1952, due to death.
