Nominated by Lyndon B. Johnson on August 16, 1966, to a seat vacated by Robert A. Ainsworth, Jr. Confirmed by the Senate on October 20, 1966, and received commission on November 3, 1966. Assumed senior status on December 1, 1981. Service terminated on July 24, 2002, due to death.
