Nominated by Harry S Truman on September 23, 1949, to a new seat authorized by 63 Stat. 493. Confirmed by the Senate on October 15, 1949, and received commission on October 18, 1949. Assumed senior status on December 31, 1965. Service terminated on April 14, 1983, due to death.
