Nominated by John F. Kennedy on May 24, 1962, to a seat vacated by Sam Gilbert Bratton. Confirmed by the Senate on June 11, 1962, and received commission on June 20, 1962. Served as chief judge, 1977-1984. Assumed senior status on December 25, 1984. Service terminated on March 27, 1996, due to death.
