Nominated by Gerald Ford on December 11, 1974, to a seat vacated by Ernest A. Guinn. Confirmed by the Senate on December 19, 1974, and received commission on December 20, 1974. Served as chief judge, 1980-1987. Service terminated on November 1, 1987, due to resignation.
