Nominated by Harry S Truman on April 12, 1951, to a seat vacated by Leon Clarence McCord. Confirmed by the Senate on May 1, 1951, and received commission on May 3, 1951. Served as chief judge, 1959-1960. Assumed senior status on February 15, 1966. Service terminated on October 1, 1981, due to reassignment.
