Nominated by Jimmy Carter on July 5, 1979, to a new seat authorized by 92 Stat. 1629. Confirmed by the Senate on September 19, 1979, and received commission on September 20, 1979. Assumed senior status on October 1, 1995. Service terminated on July 29, 2011, due to death.
