Nominated by Ronald Reagan on April 26, 1982, to a seat vacated by Winston E. Arnow. Confirmed by the Senate on June 18, 1982, and received commission on June 21, 1982. Served as chief judge, 1993-1997. Assumed senior status on July 31, 1997. Service terminated on December 29, 2016, due to death.
