Nominated by Richard M. Nixon on October 19, 1971, to a seat vacated by Arthur J. Stanley, Jr. Confirmed by the Senate on October 28, 1971, and received commission on November 1, 1971. Served as chief judge, 1981-1992. Assumed senior status on March 1, 1992. Service terminated on November 29, 1998, due to death.
