Nominated by Richard M. Nixon on June 13, 1972, to a seat vacated by Charles L. Powell. Confirmed by the Senate on August 2, 1972, and received commission on August 9, 1972. Served as chief judge, 1973-1979. Service terminated on October 6, 1979, due to death.
