Nominated by John F. Kennedy on September 14, 1961, to a new seat authorized by 75 Stat. 80. Confirmed by the Senate on September 21, 1961, and received commission on September 22, 1961. Served as chief judge, 1982-1986. Service terminated on July 19, 1986, due to death.
