Nominated by Dwight D. Eisenhower on July 23, 1953, to a seat vacated by Clarence Mullins. Confirmed by the Senate on July 31, 1953, and received commission on August 3, 1953. Assumed senior status on February 3, 1969. Service terminated on August 23, 1991, due to death.
