Nominated by Jimmy Carter on December 7, 1979, to a new seat authorized by 92 Stat. 1629. Confirmed by the Senate on August 19, 1980, and received commission on August 20, 1980. Assumed senior status due to certified disability on April 2, 1993. Service terminated on January 28, 2001, due to death.
