Nominated by Lyndon B. Johnson on July 19, 1965, to a new seat authorized by 71 Stat. 586. Confirmed by the Senate on August 11, 1965, and received commission on August 11, 1965. Served as chief judge, 1982-1986. Assumed senior status on June 30, 1986. Service terminated on August 31, 1987, due to retirement.
