Nominated by Jimmy Carter on September 28, 1979, to a seat vacated by Allen E. Barrow. Confirmed by the Senate on October 31, 1979, and received commission on November 2, 1979. Served as chief judge, 1992-1994. Assumed senior status on November 7, 1994. Service terminated on November 22, 2014, due to death.
