Nominated by Ronald Reagan on June 7, 1983, to a seat vacated by T. Emmet Clarie. Confirmed by the Senate on July 18, 1983, and received commission on July 19, 1983. Served as chief judge, 1994-1998. Assumed senior status on January 2, 1998. Service terminated on January 21, 2012, due to death.
