Nominated by Jimmy Carter on March 22, 1978, to a seat vacated by Edward Dumbauld. Confirmed by the Senate on May 1, 1978, and received commission on May 2, 1978. Served as chief judge, 1992-1994. Assumed senior status on January 31, 1994. Service terminated on October 30, 2021, due to death.
