Nominated by Ronald Reagan on May 26, 1983, to a seat vacated by Edward T. Gignoux. Confirmed by the Senate on June 22, 1983, and received commission on June 23, 1983. Served as chief judge, 1989-1996. Assumed senior status on January 2, 2003. Service terminated on November 17, 2021, due to death.
