Nominated by Gerald Ford on November 18, 1974, to a seat vacated by John Morgan Davis. Confirmed by the Senate on December 18, 1974, and received commission on December 20, 1974. Served as chief judge, 1993-1998. Service terminated on December 31, 1998, due to retirement.
