Judge, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois
Nominated by Herbert Hoover on January 8, 1932, to a new seat authorized by 46 Stat. 1196. Confirmed by the Senate on January 20, 1932, and received commission on January 25, 1932. Served as chief judge, 1948-1958. Assumed senior status on August 1, 1958. Service terminated on June 6, 1972, due to death.
