Nominated by Richard M. Nixon on September 14, 1971, to a seat vacated by Joseph Samuel Perry. Confirmed by the Senate on November 8, 1971, and received commission on November 10, 1971. Service terminated on January 3, 1975, due to appointment to another judicial position.
