Nominated by Warren G. Harding on December 30, 1922, to a new seat authorized by 42 Stat. 837. Confirmed by the Senate on January 9, 1923, and received commission on January 9, 1923. Served as chief judge, 1948-1954. Assumed senior status on December 31, 1954. Service terminated on December 22, 1961, due to death.
