Nominated by Richard M. Nixon on October 23, 1969, to a seat vacated by Sherrill Halbert. Confirmed by the Senate on December 17, 1969, and received commission on December 18, 1969. Served as chief judge, 1979-1983. Assumed senior status on January 27, 1983. Service terminated on July 8, 1998, due to death.
