Nominated by Calvin Coolidge on February 26, 1927, to a seat vacated by George W. English. Confirmed by the Senate on March 1, 1927, and received commission on March 1, 1927. Served as chief judge, 1949-1956. Assumed senior status on March 3, 1956. Service terminated on February 2, 1967, due to death.
