Nominated by William H. Taft on June 14, 1910, to a seat vacated by John F. Philips. Confirmed by the Senate on June 21, 1910, and received commission on June 21, 1910. Service terminated on March 23, 1925, due to appointment to another judicial position.

Judge, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit
Nominated by Calvin Coolidge on March 18, 1925, to a new seat authorized by 43 Stat. 1116. Confirmed by the Senate on March 18, 1925, and received commission on March 18, 1925. Assumed senior status on May 1, 1933. Service terminated on November 4, 1944, due to death.
