Judge, U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina
Received a recess appointment from Dwight D. Eisenhower on October 23, 1957, to a seat vacated by Johnson J. Hayes; nominated to the same position by Dwight D. Eisenhower on January 13, 1958. Confirmed by the Senate on February 25, 1958, and received commission on February 27, 1958. Served as chief judge, 1961-1971. Service terminated on December 23, 1971, due to death.
