Nominated by Ronald Reagan on December 7, 1981, to a seat vacated by Raymond C. McNichols. Confirmed by the Senate on December 16, 1981, and received commission on December 17, 1981. Served as chief judge, 1988-1992. Assumed senior status on December 30, 1992. Service terminated on April 10, 1995, due to death.
