Nominated by Lyndon B. Johnson on June 28, 1966, to a seat vacated by W. Homer Thornberry. Confirmed by the Senate on July 22, 1966, and received commission on July 22, 1966. Served as chief judge, 1979-1980. Assumed senior status on May 1, 1980. Service terminated on February 27, 1988, due to death.
