Nominated by Harry S Truman on September 10, 1945, to a seat vacated by Walter A. Keeling. Confirmed by the Senate on September 19, 1945, and received commission on September 28, 1945. Served as chief judge, 1948-1962. Service terminated on March 14, 1964, due to death.
