Nominated by Dwight D. Eisenhower on June 21, 1955, to a new seat authorized by 68 Stat. 8. Confirmed by the Senate on July 22, 1955, and received commission on July 27, 1955. Served as chief judge, 1955-1971. Assumed senior status on December 22, 1971. Service terminated on March 18, 1972, due to death.
