Nominated by Ronald Reagan on December 19, 1987, to a seat vacated by William Ray Overton. Confirmed by the Senate on February 25, 1988, and received commission on February 26, 1988. Served as chief judge, 1991-1998. Assumed senior status due to certified disability on September 19, 2002. Service terminated on August 14, 2004, due to death.
