Nominated by Harry S Truman on September 12, 1945, to a seat vacated by Justin Miller. Confirmed by the Senate on September 24, 1945, and received commission on September 28, 1945. Served as chief judge, 1958-1960. Assumed senior status on April 16, 1962. Service terminated on August 4, 1971, due to death.
