Nominated by Franklin D. Roosevelt on March 1, 1941, to a seat vacated by George William McClintic. Confirmed by the Senate on March 20, 1941, and received commission on March 27, 1941. Served as chief judge, 1948-1958. Service terminated on September 25, 1958, due to death.
