Nominated by Harry S Truman on October 9, 1945, to a seat vacated by John Boyd Avis. Confirmed by the Senate on October 23, 1945, and received commission on October 25, 1945. Served as chief judge, 1961-1968. Assumed senior status due to certified disability on January 1, 1968. Service terminated on March 29, 1976, due to death.
