Nominated by Harry S Truman on July 3, 1946, to a seat vacated by Edward Julien Moinet. Confirmed by the Senate on July 25, 1946, and received commission on July 27, 1946. Served as chief judge, 1959-1967. Service terminated on December 31, 1970, due to death.
