Nominated by Lyndon B. Johnson on July 17, 1967, to a new seat authorized by 80 Stat. 75. Confirmed by the Senate on August 18, 1967, and received commission on August 25, 1967. Served as chief judge, 1973-1979. Assumed senior status on May 30, 1981. Service terminated on June 8, 1996, due to death.
