Nominated by John F. Kennedy on March 19, 1962, to a seat vacated by F. Dickinson Letts. Confirmed by the Senate on April 11, 1962, and received commission on April 12, 1962. Served as chief judge, 1975-1977. Assumed senior status on March 20, 1977. Service terminated on July 31, 1979, due to death.
