Nominated by Ronald Reagan on September 6, 1984, to a new seat authorized by 98 Stat. 333. Confirmed by the Senate on October 11, 1984, and received commission on October 12, 1984. Served as chief judge, 1991-1998. Assumed senior status on February 28, 2002. Service terminated on June 6, 2007, due to death.
