Nominated by Gerald Ford on June 2, 1976, to a seat vacated by Alfonso J. Zirpoli. Confirmed by the Senate on July 23, 1976, and received commission on July 23, 1976. Served as chief judge, 1988-1990. Assumed senior status on November 15, 1990. Service terminated on May 26, 2002, due to death.
