Nominated by Dwight D. Eisenhower on May 10, 1954, to a new seat authorized by 68 Stat. 8. Confirmed by the Senate on June 8, 1954, and received commission on June 10, 1954. Served as chief judge, 1967-1972. Assumed senior status on July 1, 1973. Service terminated on March 29, 1990, due to death.
