Nominated by Harry S Truman on January 8, 1947, to a seat vacated by James C. Wilson. Confirmed by the Senate on July 8, 1947, and received commission on July 9, 1947. Served as chief judge, 1959. Assumed senior status on October 1, 1966. Service terminated on January 19, 1967, due to death.
