Nominated by Dwight D. Eisenhower on July 21, 1953, to a seat vacated by Benjamin C. Dawkins, Sr. Confirmed by the Senate on July 31, 1953, and received commission on August 3, 1953. Served as chief judge, 1953-1973. Assumed senior status due to certified disability on August 6, 1973. Service terminated on August 31, 1984, due to death.
