Nominated by John F. Kennedy on August 26, 1963, to a seat vacated by Arthur M. Davis. Confirmed by the Senate on September 25, 1963, and received commission on October 2, 1963. Served as chief judge, 1973-1979. Assumed senior status on October 1, 1979. Service terminated on June 29, 1986, due to death.
