Nominated by Franklin D. Roosevelt on February 18, 1943, to a seat vacated by Charles C. Cavanah. Confirmed by the Senate on March 5, 1943, and received commission on March 10, 1943. Served as chief judge, 1954-1964. Assumed senior status on April 30, 1964. Service terminated on December 30, 1966, due to death.
