Nominated by Dwight D. Eisenhower on April 6, 1954, to a new seat authorized by 68 Stat. 8. Confirmed by the Senate on April 27, 1954, and received commission on April 30, 1954. Served as chief judge, 1959-1976. Assumed senior status on December 31, 1976. Service terminated on October 21, 1994, due to death.
