Nominated by Jimmy Carter on June 14, 1979, to a new seat authorized by 92 Stat. 1629. Confirmed by the Senate on September 25, 1979, and received commission on September 26, 1979. Assumed senior status on October 1, 1991. Service terminated on June 1, 1998, due to death.
