Nominated by Jimmy Carter on November 21, 1977, to a seat vacated by Charles R. Scott. Confirmed by the Senate on December 15, 1977, and received commission on December 16, 1977. Served as chief judge, 1989-1990. Service terminated on January 26, 1990, due to death.
