Nominated by Herbert Hoover on September 9, 1929, to a new seat authorized by 45 Stat. 1409. Confirmed by the Senate on November 20, 1929, and received commission on November 20, 1929. Served as chief judge, 1958-1959. Assumed senior status on February 1, 1960. Service terminated on March 5, 1962, due to death.
