Nominated by Ronald Reagan on April 4, 1984, to a seat vacated by Mary Anne Richey. Confirmed by the Senate on April 24, 1984, and received commission on May 3, 1984. Served as chief judge, 1990-1994. Assumed senior status on May 14, 1998. Service terminated on February 26, 2008, due to death.
