Nominated by Ronald Reagan on July 9, 1981, to a seat vacated by John W. Oliver. Confirmed by the Senate on September 16, 1981, and received commission on September 19, 1981. Served as chief judge, 1995-2000. Service terminated on January 21, 2000, due to death.
